Biography

Barbara Esther Shelton, age 77, of Chester Gap passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 in Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Barbara was born on November 11, 1932 in Farmington, WV a daughter of the late Dallas and Rosa Huffman Steele. She was an artist who worked in line drawings and pastels; she also enjoyed sewing and cooking. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always shared her Christian beliefs with others. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Byers Shelton; her son, Rocke Shelton and wife Catherine of Culpeper; her daughters, Christine Sikes Berkebile of Fairfax, Susan Sayers and husband Tom of Linden, and Leslie Rose Stewart and husband Christopher of Leesburg; her brothers, Robert Steele and wife Vada of FL, and Iver Steele and wife Joann of WV; her sister, Frances Kuchlewski and husband Theodore of Glen Burnie, MD; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Rue and her brother, Dallas Steele, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
